Detroit Typos: Rebranding the Branded City was a joint project with fellow Cranbrook artists Kiel Mutschelknaus and Wes Taylor. Studio Couture Detroit, located in downtown Detroit, hosted a one night only pop-up store where visitors could create their own T-shirts by picking and mixing the designs we contributed. I created the typographic designs for the T-shirts and I designed the Detroit Typos logo along with a typeface based on P.T. Barnum named Barnum Detroit.
Wes described the show concept as “A typographic celebration honoring the city of Detroit through design, performance and manufacturing. Artists/designers Satoru Nihei, Kiel Mutschelknaus and Wesley Taylor along with the youth of Detroit Summer will transform the gallery into a pop-up shop. Opening features live screen printing and music.”
